Wasp Trap for Soda Bottles – Reusable Wasp Catcher for the Garden

Keep your garden and patio free of wasps all summer – without expensive single-use traps. This clever wasp catcher simply screws onto an ordinary soda bottle, and the trap is ready in under a minute.

How it works

Fill the bottom of the bottle with something sweet that wasps can't resist. They crawl in through the openings to reach the bait – but can't find their way out. A drop of dish soap in the liquid breaks the surface tension, so the wasps sink and the trap does all the work for you.

Fits all standard bottles

The thread fits every common ½ and 1 litre soda bottle, so you can simply reuse an empty bottle from the fridge. Hang it up with a string through the built-in loop – under a gazebo, an eave or in a tree.

Good bait – try for example

• Sweet and sticky: cordial, syrup, sugar water, jam or a splash of soda.
• Overripe fruit: a few pieces of ripe fruit or a little fruit juice.
• Beer or wine – a classic that works surprisingly well.
• A drop of dish soap in the liquid so the wasps can't fly back out.

Spare the bees

Add a small splash of vinegar to the bait. Wasps don't mind it, but bees stay away – so you only catch what you actually want gone. Also hang the trap 5-10 metres away from where you sit, so wasps are lured to the trap instead of to your table.

Empty and refresh the bait a couple of times a week and the trap lasts all summer. Reusable season after season.
